{"id":170,"date":"2019-03-13T12:46:05","date_gmt":"2019-03-13T12:46:05","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/widezine.net\/teste\/?p=170"},"modified":"2026-05-30T10:31:42","modified_gmt":"2026-05-30T02:31:42","slug":"it-happened-again-frenchman-spent-a-month-in-prison-for-flying-a-drone-in-myanmar","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/widezine.net\/pt\/news\/it-happened-again-frenchman-spent-a-month-in-prison-for-flying-a-drone-in-myanmar\/","title":{"rendered":"A month in prison for flying a drone"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>A French tourist was sentenced to a month of hard labor in prison for attempting to fly with drone near Myanmar\u2019s parliament.<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div>Arthur Desclaux, 27, was arrested&nbsp;in the capital&nbsp;on February 7 accused under an import and export law that prohibits the use of \u201cbanned goods\u201d brought in from abroad without a license.<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div>Myanmar has strong restrictions on drones used in the country, especially in religious and governmental sites.<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div>The Frenchman admitted ignoring these laws, Judge Sulab Yadanar Oo told the court after the hearing.<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div>\u201cWe gave him a light sentence \u2013 a month in prison with forced labor, when he confessed with sincerity that he was guilty,\u201d the judge said.<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div>But this is not the first time foreigners flying with drones have been arrested in Myanmar. In 2017, journalists from Malaysia, who were filming a documentary for a Turkish state broadcaster, were also arrested for flying with a drone next to parliament.<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div>At the time, they believed they would only pay a fine but that was not what happened. They were sentenced to two months in prison.<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Thus, being aware of local laws and requesting the appropriate permits are basic measures that can prevent the seizure of equipment and \/ or \u201cforced vacation\u201d in prison.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A French tourist was sentenced to a month of hard labor in prison for attempting to fly with drone near Myanmar\u2019s parliament.
